I count travel as one of my greatest loves. I recently traveled to Norway with my husband, parents and sister to visit our family who lives there. While the scenery was beautiful, the food incredible, and the weather amazing, what I will love most is the new family I found there.
We first traveled to Bergen, Norway – my grandfather’s childhood city. These are some images of the places he knew and loved … the fjords he fished in, the boats he used, the places he traveled to and the home he lived in. I will treasure these photographs for a lifetime as they hold such personal significance for me. I hope you enjoy them.

As an artist, I think it’s incredibly important to constantly challenge yourself, to put yourself in tough situations, to learn, and to fail. I wanted to photograph my friend Maren (no challenge there, right? the girl is stinkin’ gorgeous) but in noon day light … probably the harshest, unflattering light there could be … and try to make it work. I found the shadows cast during that time of day to be difficult, but also dramatic and interesting.
So thanks Mare … for allowing me to experiment and to learn. You are an incredible momma and friend … can’t wait to see you soon! XOXO
