On Vacation

Susan | Yoga Portrait Session

I met Susan back in 2009 after a long and exhaustive search for a yoga studio in Cary. I needed something to balance all the work it took to run and after a long talk with a girlfriend, we knew yoga was it. I walked in to Susan’s Vinyasa Flow class on a cold November evening and the rest they say, is history. She trained me all the way through my pregnancy with Quin, and well after and since then, we’ve become dear friends.

There are big things happening for Susan. Big, big things. She has a gift for teaching that is unparalleled and a way to make each one of her students feel special. So for her to ask for a portrait session was beyond flattering. I couldn’t love this woman more and to get her in front of my lens for all of her big plans was an honor. Susan, thank you for the gift you’ve given me and for the gift you’ve given all of us when we’re on and off our mats. Enjoy a few frames from our session together.

I hope you don’t mind, but I’d like to take a moment for a personal note, and promise it will absolutely apply. A year ago December, our sweet baby Quin was born. I could not have imagined the joy that this new creature could have brought us and my heart was so full being a new mom during the most beautiful time of the year. I’ve heard people lament when big life events happen during the holiday season, but now, from my experience I can say without a doubt that they make the holiday season. They fill your heart with so much gratitude for the season, for the people you love, and for the time to celebrate the things that matter most. It is truly a gift to experience it and Jenn and Blake’s wedding was absolutely no exception.

Jenn has been a ray of sunshine the moment I met her and will call her a dear friend for as long as she’ll let me. ;) Her joy and passion for life and people is inspiring and her beauty, inside and out, is amazing. Blake is her match and together, their day was one I will never forget. I hope these photographs tell their day’s story well and be on the lookout for a flash mob courtesy of the coolest friends ever.

It was a privilege to be a part of this day. Jenn and Blake, thank you and the warmest congratulations. Love you both.

Ali & Tim | Married

Fall in Raleigh this year was epic. Period. No ifs ands or buts about it. The trees were perfect for weeks, the sky was sapphire blue and the weather warm. I could not have painted a more perfect matching backdrop for Ali & Tim’s wedding. Every moment that transpired during their day matched the beauty of the season. Mrs. King | Bridals

I cannot begin to tell how long this wait has been to blog Jenn’s bridal session. Too long. Way. Too. Long. Her wedding on Saturday was perfectly epic, and now that the Mr. & Mrs. are safely off honeymooning in Turks and Caicos, you know that her bridal post is going up immediately.

There’s a lot to say about Jenn, but the only thing I will say for this post is that I don’t think I’ve met someone more beautiful inside and out. There is an absolute warmth and familiarity that spills from her, and it’s contagious. I absolutely love this girl. Congratulations Mrs. King. I could not be more thrilled for you. XO
